Hi! My name is Isaac Privett and here I am getting out into the world, exploring new things, and establishing the identity I will have for the rest of my life. I am starting this blog to inform people about the trials and tribulations of growing up in todays world and making decisions that will affect me for years to come.
This week has been a very busy week for me and I had a ton of homework and stuff to go. Thankfully it is now over and I get to fly home for thanksgiving break. I will try to update when I am home a little but I don't know what my plans will be. Well, off I go. Safe travels to all that are traveling this weekend.

Education
Something has come to my attention about education. I was sitting in class yesterday listening to my professor go on and on about Virginia Woolf and came to realize something very important that most student don't seem to grasp when they are in the class room. In receiving and education they are receiving an education in what a certain institution deems relevant. That is a very powerful tool in shaping the way people think and in a sense is making sure that your discourse propagates. The thing that gets me is that most people don't realize this when they step through the door of their class. They don't realize that they need to pick apart what their professor tells them and find the pieces that agree with their own discourse and not the professor's.
This is why there seems to be a lack of great thinkers such as Isaac Newton, Nietzsche, Ibn Kaldun, Plato, ect. If you try and remember great thinkers in recent time, you will notice that their scholarship is nothing close to that of the greats a century or two ago. The reason for such is that people no longer question discourses that are being taught by institutions. They go in there expecting to be taught the truth and never realize there is no truth. Of course the institutions have no problem with this. They want to continue to exist and to do that, they will educate people to be liberal, conservative, ect so that their children will be brought up to attend their institution. Until this changes, there won't be any great thinkers like that of the far past. We will continue at the current state and no great progress will be made.

Online Radio
I have discovered the beauty of online radio. I can now listen to the radio in my dorm where previously, I was unable to listen because radio waves seem to have a problem coming in due to the mountain. I can get radio stations from all over the world and from many different genres. The best part is that it is completely free! That is always a plus since I am a poor college student and don't have money to blow on getting radio. I found two website with a large selection of radio stations: Live365 and VirtualTuner. Both are very nice sites with an amazing selection of stations. I prefer Live365 due to their easy searches and I feel their selection is less the international and more US stations. I recommend giving these stations a shot. They lack commercials and you always get the music you like.

Do it now!
I really wonder what it is with people and doing things quickly. Apparently it is better to do things quickly then taking your time and doing things right. Many people look up to someone who can get something done quickly but the person who does things right every time goes unnoticed. That makes little sense to me. Shouldn't the person that gets it right every time get more respect?

Breaking News
I have to decided to post a little more news on my blog for information purposes. Anyway, it seems that Massachusetts has just legalized gay marriage. You can read about it here . I'm going to refrain from saying this is a good thing or not. It is a shaky on either side of the issue.

Solaris
Ok, I know it is another movie review. I will get back to your regularly scheduled broadcasting after these messages. Anyway, I just got done watching this movie and was pleasantly surprised. I wasn't expecting much but it turned out to be a decent movie. The acting was good, the plot wasn't bad, and they even threw in some nice twists. Clooney, as usual, did a great job and really meshed the story together. I definitely enjoyed it more then The Exorcist. If you are looking for a movie to rent and aren't in the mood for action, you should give this movie a shot. It is a little bit of a romantic movie, but not even close to a chick flick. I give it a 4 out of 5 stars.
